Rally Theme

The theme of this year’s rally is: We love America – We love Oklahoma It is important that we express to the legislators how valuable immigrants are to Oklahoma. Immigrants pay taxes, they don’t take jobs from citizens,  and for many it is the only home they have known. Many came as infants, toddlers and small children; these groups do not understand why the legislators want to deny them in-state tuition. A number of valedictorians have been undocumented students why should anyone make it difficult for them to further their education. In these groups their parents pay mortgages and property taxes and their children should be able to go to college and pay in-state tuition. The number of undocumented students paying in-state tuition is not even 1% compared to the entire number of students attending colleges and universities in Oklahoma. So the legislators have purposely and deliberately spent thousands of Oklahoma tax payer dollars trying to make a law that only affects and penalizes less than 1% of the entire university population. In essence they are picking on one single ant in an ant hill. At the Rally we will voice a clear message that ALL students who have graduated from an Oklahoma high school - should have the right to pay in-state tuition. We believe that Oklahoma is better served when ALL communities are educated.
